FutureShape Leaders - a strategy for Student Leader Development in High Schools
A way to inspire personal excellence and help young people aspire to be exceptional.
Being human, we are creatures of perception. How we see the world is determined by the 'lens' we use. By changing the 'lens' through the FutureShape leaders, we can change how the world looks to young people.
FutureShape Consulting will share the insights and structures that drive FutureShape Leaders as a service to schools that are willing to accept the challenge. School communities must be willing to implement a multi-dimensional program that draws upon the resources of school personnel and members of the community in order to expose students to new dimensions of thinking about their future possibilities.
"By creating a culture of expectation and optimism, a culture in which young people begin to seek and expect enabling ideas, my aim is to challenge and transform the 'inner game' and reflective behaviour in students at all secondary age levels." (Rob Stones, 2008)
"In creating FutureShape Leaders, I am acutely aware that a successful life is far more than academics and material achievements. I want to help young people aspire to a life of significance, a sense of purpose and the desire to make an inspirational contribution to society." (Rob Stones, 2009)
This program goes far beyond conventional school leadership into the realm of serious future creation, and has the capacity to transform the culture of a school as well as to light the fires of inspiration in participants.

At a time in their lives when they are building their futures through their own thought development, the pressure from peers, media, family (and often from schools) is to conform, rather than to dream of becoming extraordinary.
Many secondary school students are not systematically exposed to ideas that challenge their limiting beliefs. They often do not hear the stories of ordinary people who have faced and accepted challenges: those who have faced their fears and taken a step into the unknown.
