Rob has that wonderful ability to get across the theory very early, to fit the new into known frameworks and then to turn the tide of professional opinion. As the Chair of the Project implementation group, he strove tirelessly to propagate the Dream while ensuring that real, live, practical programs were put in place and properly managed. Rob's capacity to identify and foster talented people to do strategic and tactical work, irrespective of their formal status, was a key element in the project's emergence and almost instant success.
In later years, after Rob had moved on to the Gold Coast, I saw him acting in a similar role with Griffith University's Teacher Education Industry Advisory Group (TEIAG). All of Rob's capacities to enthuse, to organise, to take professionals with him were on show. I guess some people have this repertoire and love exercising it. Rob certainly does so with great effect!
